We had a dream, like so many others before us, to live a simple and sustainable life on our own organic farm... so we drove from Vancouver Island, British Columbia to the Annapolis Valley in Nova Scotia, and we've been here nearly 6 years. We love life, learning, and sharing with others. Follow our adventures as we build a vibrant small family farm and work towards self-sufficiency using a combination of traditional methods, permaculture and original ideas.

Happy Canada Day!
We're off to watch the parade, festivities at Parksville Community Park and later tonight the fireworks.
The parade is from 10-12am along the Hwy from Shelley Rd to Craig St.
Music, bouncy castles, entertainment all afternoon in community park and fireworks at 10pm
I'll check in later!
The fireworks were great again this year. Rather than joining the tens of thousands in the park we opted for a smaller beach at the other end of the bay. Lovely view, no trouble getting the car out, not so many drunk people or people smoking pot. It was nice and relaxing and the girls thought it was awesome! There were a few new and spectacular fireworks too. And listening to the RCMP on the radio is always fun. From what I understand this is the busiest night of the year for them followed by the night of the fireworks in a few weeks at the beach once again for the sand castle competition.
Well, another year older. Happy Birthday Canada! Did you know that you are only 41 years older than the girls school?
Here's a great old song.
